This book gives a great perspective into the life of August, a boy born with a condition that caused deformities and resulted in numerous surgeries. We take a peek into August's life as he ventures from home into school for the first time, for middle school. Palacio gives the reader a compassionate, well written story that will make the reader contemplate their views of others. The viewpoint of his older sister, Via is one that really grabbed me. Wonderful young adult title about a young man with horrible facial deformities.
Great story. Very easy read, definitely meant to be read by a younger audience but the story was wonderful for any age and I am glad I read it. I needed something uplifting and this was it.
Well written, interesting story, good take-away message, especially for middle school age kids.
