I almost gave it 5 stars because it was fascinating and I think a great conversation/discussion book. But one of the final chapters talked about kids speaking abilities and just brushed on the fact that personality matters. My son was the perfect example of a kid who just didn't want to speak early or even on time. He was an active kid and ran around in circles while other kids babbled. Now, his vocab is great. But, the book was good. And had interesting research to back up what they are saying.

I really enjoyed this book, but it made me stress out a little, too. Some of the information was pretty common sense, like kids needing more sleep, but I was very interested to hear about the "right" way to praise children and about what kind of play works best for preschoolers. The stress part comes from hoping I am verbalizing correctly! Definitely a good read.

Very interesting topics about current parenting/educational theories and how modern science disproves a lot of what we believe about raising kids. Very interesting with lots of research examples. Not a parenting advice book but lots of practical information.
