Justice of torrens/Esk One/Breq the sole surviving ancillary of a two millenia old starship makes a more serious toned artificial intelligence than say Martha Wells Murderbot.

Leckie's complex plot does come to a slow boil, as present, past and far distant past threads merge. However, there is plenty of action and the worldbuilding is quite exquisite.
