“I looked on, I thought, I reflected, I admired, in a state of stupefaction not altogether unmingled with fear!”

I enjoyed this book quite a bit! I felt this was a good novel, but I gave it some more bonus points on account of Verne being the ‘Grandfather’ of science fiction and on account of the meticulous attention to detail with which this book was written. I love fantasy but there are certain times when I find it impossible to suspend my belief. I think that it has everything to do with the knowns and how those are presented in a book (or movie). When something is, like this, presented in our world it becomes harder for me to pick and choose those things I will believe in. So there were several times throughout this read that were accompanied by vast eye-rolls and sighs.
