Read this book for a Book Discussion Club.
I liked this book – Frankenstein by Mary Shelley - giving it a four-star rating out of five stars. I thought I was familiar with Frankenstein’s monster through its ubiquitous euse during Halloween and in modern pop culture; but had never read the book or seen the movie. This book really surprised me. I thought that it would be dry, dull, and outdated... It was none of these! There's excitement, romance, horror and it is relevant today. The way Victor plays God with no regard for the consequences makes me think of some of the things going on in labs now. I was also surprised by the monster. No bolts in the neck, rigid legs or mindless moaning. He started out like a child. He was intelligent and longed for a companion. He was abused and rejected again and again.
