Poignant is the one word I have for this book. Being an avid reader of classics I absolutely loved this book; the language, the beautiful use of the various elements of nature, the forbidden romance, absolutely marvellous.

There so many moments in the story when I had to pause, overwhelmed by the emotions, and I sat down pondering over them before I could resume reading. It is a moving tale of a woman who is made a public shame for a ‘sin’ she committed and which she has to bear her whole life. I ...more
