I can't quite put my finger on why I didn't love this book as much as I expected to. It was fine. I cared about Francie enough that I wanted to find out how she made it through her education after Johnnie's death. But I didn't love her. I found it depressing that she thought Katie didn't love her. And I found Sissy to be a complete cartoon. Ten dead babies and two fake divorces!?!
