This will be my second time around for this. I remember detesting it when I was younger. However, I watched a bbc film adaptation on Netflx that was actually very good. They seemed to take quite a few liberties with the original story but it was still quite good. It made me wonder if my opinion of the book would change if I read it again now that I am older and have a totally different frame of mind. I found that age and time hasn't changed my opinion at all. I still do not like this book.

I don't know why people say they hate all the characters! I loved every single one of them, some more than others of course. The beautiful thing about these characters was that they were far from perfect; they nurtured hatred, bitterness, dependence, and a dying need for love.

Heathcliff: He may have been overreacting with all the revenge, and he sure was a vindictive bastard, but I can't help loving his maddened devotion towards Catherine (first-gen). Screw me if I find it understandable.
