So, The Secret Garden. Pretty sure this has been read to me as a kid, and I know I've seen the movie. I tackled this Frances Hodgson Burnett book last in the 3 that I chose (A Little Princess and Little Lord Fauntleroy).

I think Secret Garden was her most developed work and I enjoyed seeing her characters, particularly Colin, as they changed. I think Mary's change was a bit more abrupt, but it was also good to see.

I fell in love with the 1993 Coppola produced film in my childhood and finally reading the book has clarified the creative changes made that better defined the relationships than what is only implied in the original story. Colin kind of steals the character arc from Mary in the book but that aspect didn't take away from the core story of redemption, nurturing friendships and positive thinking.
