What Members Thought

☯Emily Ginder
I have never seen this play performed, but in this age of falsehoods, I decided I should read it. Based on the Salem Witch Trials, Miller creates a terrifying scenario of people, who believing in religious falsehoods, decide it is better to murder than to renounce a belief. People are killed based on spectral evidence from teenage girls, who are malicious in their false accusations. Written during the McCarthy era, it is an allegory for the witch hunts taking place in America.

I must read more of Miller. A good play with very realistic (and horrible) characters.
