Summary: A bunch of kids go on a mystical/scientific mission to save their world from a 'big bad' that threatens to engulf the entire universe. Along the way they'll have to come to grips with themselves and some fundamental truths about what they believe.

Things I liked:

The initial setup was charming. Very quaint and attractive. I loved how the whole family new Meg was suffering at school and did their best to help her.

I thought the story line was rushed and incredibly simplistic. The conflict in the story was lacking. I had no strong feeling for any of the characters. I will probably continue to read the series to see if it gets any better.

"A children's classic published before 1980." (Also because it's now a blockbuster film. I think I probably would have liked this better if I'd read it as a kid, but it's a fun yarn, an interesting cast of characters and valuable lessons for youngsters. ...more
