I FINALLY read an Austen novel! In my 28 years of life I haven't actually read any of Jane's books! I have seen every adaptation in video form so this feels like a big deal to me! I loved it! Might have to give more of them a try!

This is Jane Austen! Is it her best book...no. However, it is still a classic. The heroine is a little too good to be true which makes it a little difficult to relate to her. However, the descriptions of her life with her father and older sister are heart wrenching. There is not a lot of conversation in the book and it moves slowly from one location to another, including Lyme and Bath. Very slow burning novel filled with subtle and not so subtle jabs at the various characters who roam the pages of this classic by Jane Austen. Her use of language always has a calming effect on ones nerves, it takes some settling at first but once you are sucked in her world, your worries slowly glide away. Despite being almost 200 years old, reading Persuasion continues to be soothing experience. If that's not the sign of a true classic, I don't know what is.
