This book reminds me of when I read Sam Sykes' The City Stained Red. He was hilarious in Twitter (before I found out he was a pervert). But then I read his book. And found it really boring, meh plot, and not funny. Similar with this one. I listened to Eames in a podcast and he sounded really fun. But then I read this book. I can't even finish it. The best kind of heroic fantasy forces you to ask yourself- do you have an iota of heroism inside yourself? Would you be willing to go the distance if the push comes to a shove? Kings of the Wyld belongs to that rare category, the kind of fantasy David Gemmell used to write (not surprising that this one won the Gemmell award!).

I just really don't like this, and despite having started it days ago, I'm never motivated to pick it up and read. It's so boring, and isn't my type of fantasy. I'm giving up on this one.
