3 1/2 Stars.

Enjoyed the story. Takes two premises and runs with it:
1. Rejuvenation/Re-Life'ing is (mostly) mainstreamed. This implies a good bit of immortality. A lot of reviews complain that the culture wasn't much different between present day and 24th century. But with a lot of people who were born now still being around, I can see how culture would move slower than normal.

2. Rapid expansion due to worm holes. Society has spread out through many planets (which is good because of #1 above). D

I picked up this audio book randomly from the library, since I had finished all six books of The Expanse, and I'm still in the space opera mood.

It turned out an excellent choice. Enjoyed this book very much. It's a space opera hundreds of years in the future, humans leaned the black hole technology and can travel through space at will. This book was a slogfest! So much to get through... so many characters and worlds... a saga on a truly epic scale, I seriously considered breaking out index cards to keep track of the different characters.

During the month-plus that it took me to get through it, I kept wondering how all of these characters were finally going to interact or have some sort of combined influence on the overall plot. There were just so many storylines going on simultaneously that it was a truly complex web of plots.

Great story. Fascinating universe that extrapolates many of the computing and user interface ideas of today. Positive picture of a "transhumanist" future very different from the Terminator universe. ...more

Reminds me why I love space operas. Multiple worlds building - character introduced halfway through - the scale of story and playing field enormous. Off to a slow start, but builds and builds until I was hopelessly hooked into every new revelation. Space battles! Wormholes! What fun.
