I'm officially giving myself permission to not finish this book. I'm only a few chapters in, but I've read it two or three times already, albeit more than ten years ago. I just can't do it one more time.

I'm not saying "Dune" is bad. I think it's an excellent choice for the Science Fiction and Fantasy group. I think it's something every science fiction fan and everyone interested in science fiction should read. It's scope and influence are unmatched. I'm about to finish reading Dune. For some reason, perhaps because of it's length or varied lexicon, I felt that it would take me a lot longer to finish than just a week, but it was totally immersive and couldn't put it down. A book so good, I've done little else during downtime. I usually prefer books where I can relate more to the characters; however, despite the superhuman powers of the Lisan al-Gaib and the Cuinsinart Hatrack (heh) that developed more rapidly than I was comfortable with, I e ...more
