1st reread (also a buddy read with the World Beyond Margins group) in 2019
I can't even finish this thing in a reread. Part 1 now annoyed me a lot (Paul was an unbearable Gary Stu, I hate Bene Gesserit, fatshaming an already gross villain, dichotomy on women with logic etc etc) Oh indeed my older self became more critical compared to my first read (see below three-star review back in 2009). I'm about to finish reading Dune. For some reason, perhaps because of it's length or varied lexicon, I felt that it would take me a lot longer to finish than just a week, but it was totally immersive and couldn't put it down. A book so good, I've done little else during downtime. I usually prefer books where I can relate more to the characters; however, despite the superhuman powers of the Lisan al-Gaib and the Cuinsinart Hatrack (heh) that developed more rapidly than I was comfortable with, I e
