My quick review of A Game of Thrones in book form is that you should read it now. It is a great fantasy book. The first book of the Song of Ice and Fire septology is good enough that I’ll be reading everything George R. R. Martin writes for a very long time. While learning the names of every character was difficult at the start. It wasn’t a problem for me as every character was so well defined that as soon as they did anything it was easy to work out who everyone was. I enjoyed reading this book

I've almost finished reading the 4th book in the series. Good plot twists, nice characterizations. A bit too much 'blood and guts' for my taste; but not beyond tolerance. My main concern lies with the author's use of too many characters. Many have first and last names, in addition to nicknames; and they are referred to by each name in different situations.
