Jack is turning five when he wakes up in Room - the only world he knows, where he spends the days with Ma - days she's filled with activities. In the night he sleeps inside Wardrobe, out of sight of the nightly visitor he's dubbed Old Nick. But as Jack get's older, it becomes more and more difficult to control life in such a confined space and she hatches a desperate plan for escape. Outside turns out to be just as challenging.

This was my second attempt at reading this book and I am so glad I gave it another try. I was extremely put off by the way it was told from 5-year-old Jack's perspective the first time and decided not to read it. It did take me a while to get used to the writing style this time around, but now having read the whole book, I really appreciate it. It gave such an innocent point of view to the story which made it very touching and almost sweet, even though it's such a sad subject. I would highly enc
