It's set in a Dystopian society in futuristic Chicago selected upon fractions. These fractions are based upon the traits and talents of the individuals that are 16 years of age. But are they really? Do they really have the freedom of "choice" of which fraction they should belong too or is it another form of control based upon how one should think and act.
Then along comes Beatrice Prior. Someone who thinks for herself. Does the knowledge that she is one who is known as a Divergent frees her from

I wanted to like this more than I did. I think the world building has potential and the idea of setting up the factions as a way to prevent civil unrest is intriguing (if not very original). I loved this book. It's a good book if it's 2 am and you have an alarm set for 6:30 am, but you consider just staying up to keep reading...twice. sure it's similiar to The Hunger Games, but let's remind our selves that The Running Man came first.
Excellent book

There were a few things I didn't like - God's name was used a lot in ways I don't like/find irreverent, H*ll was said a few times, and there was one very heated scene where I was like Should I keep reading or skip ahead? because I wasn't sure what was going to happen between the characters. Thankfully nothing happened in that way (although it was mentioned).

I don't read many mainstream novels, and I think last year I only read three (The Hunger Games trilogy). While I enjoyed
