She shook her head. “I can read it just fine. It’s…beautiful.”

I THINK THIS QUOTE IS MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE OUT OF ANY BOOK, I STILL AWW AT IT- IT GETS ME IN THE HEART EVERYTIME!

Even though this is the story of Bella and Zsadist, so much more is going on. We get to see not only Zsadist's backstory but also some of his twin, Phury's, story. Z was stolen as a baby and sold into slavery. When he went through his transformation, he was brought to the attention of the Mistress. She took him as her blood slave but also as a sex slave in every horrible sense of the word. He was left chained up for a century abused in everyway before his twin was able to find and rescue him. Makes my rides on the subway much more interesting!

I have always loved Bad Boys who are Good Boys...this series is full of them. Sexy, raw, warriors who protect their loved ones, be it females ( lovers, sisters, friends), males ( brothers, Brotherhood, friends) or citizens oblivious to the dangers in their world.

I love it when bad guys get their asses kicked to hell & have to stay there forever.

It's been a while since I started this series. Even though this is just my third, with every one I have changed my favorite brother! Yep, Zsadist is now my favorite!! It may be hard to change this one though.

Lover Awakened is the third book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and features Zsadist and Bella as our main characters.

Zsadist is probably one of the scariest and most volatile members of the Brotherhood. Bella and Zsadist met in the previous book when she made clear she was attracted to him. Shortly after, Bella was taken by a lesser and held captive. After weeks of searching, Zsadist finds her and brings her to the Brotherhood compound to recover.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood are all big Lover Awakened is the third book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and features Zsadist and Bella as our main characters.

Zsadist is probably one of the scariest and most volatile members of the Brotherhood. Bella and Zsadist met in the previous book when she made clear she was attracted to him. Shortly after, Bella was taken by a lesser and held captive. After weeks of searching, Zsadist finds her and brings her to the Brotherhood compound to recover.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood are all big, bad vampire warriors who take no prisoners when it comes to fighting lessers, the desouled humans who hunt and kill ordinary vampires. However, even these warriors are scared of Zsadist. Unlike the other brothers who are all muscled and incredibly beautiful, Zsadist is lean, scarred, pierced, and shavenheaded. He bears tattoos from his life as a former blood slave. He has anger issues, doesn’t like to be touched, denies himself food, as well as pleasure, sleeps on the floor, and keeps a skull in his room.

When Z brings Bella to the mansion to recover, readers don't realize that the heart of this story will be his own recovery. It is rare in an alpha male dominated storyline that we focus on abuse suffered by the alpha male. We witness Z battling his own concept of how a man should be. I think it’s so important to show that men can be victims, too, and even more important that this strong warrior was the victim of a woman.

Along with Zsadist and Bella’s story, the author introduces several other characters and storylines that will be developed in future books, including John Matthew, a mute street kid vampire who may turn out to be the most powerful one of all. Butch, the human cop who lives with the brothers, meets a beautiful vampire and falls for her in a major way. We also meet Bella’s brother, Rehvenge, who is not exactly a nice guy, along with one character suffering a major loss.

It is interesting to reread these early books after reading the 23 book series. You can see how the characters have changed over the years. As always, I listened to this in Audible format, narrated by the fantastic Jim Frangione. ...more

Loved the book. I must admit that the only thing I don't like about this series is that it spends a lot of time switching from character to character, and often to ones I couldn't care less about. But all in all, I love the plot, I love the uniqueness of the vampires and their world, and I love the Brothers of the Brotherhood. This book was pretty awesome, though I can't say it was the best in the series, and it was definitely the most depressing so far. Still, good book. ...more

This was Ward's version of Beauty and the Beast and some of the characters are amazing, but others just seem flat and monotonous. All of these stories are linked and the characters from later books are in each book so sometimes it feels like the story is being slowed down for characters that will be developed more later. Bella was so cool at the beginning and towards the end but I did get a bit tired of her and Z. ...more
