This book exemplifies the deficiencies in the star system here on GR. The problem was, I actually really enjoyed this book to the point that I honestly couldn't put it down. It was definitely corny (I mean, what was with the Vampire names? Really?) and there were aspects of it which I found silly (the 'guy bonding' between Butch and Vishious in particular) or even annoying (way too many acronyms, but perhaps that is because I didn't know half of them and so wasn't sure what they were talking abo ...more

Interesting kick-off to the series. I've heard so much about the Black Dagger Brotherhood and am glad I'm finally getting to it. Seems like this is one where you really have to read all the books, and read them in order, because the subplot is a continuous arc across them all (or at least the one from the first one bleeds into the second, and my guess is that pattern continues).

I like the world that Ward created; not your cookie cutter vampire setting and background. I kind of missed that co

Wow!! What a fantastic series!! Why did I wait so long to read it!! The perfect balance of adventure, romance and steamy action!

Wrath is a great character, super hot tortured vamp!! Oh and I can not wait for the rest of the Brotherhood to meet their matches!!

Beth is no simpering female she is a heroine worthy of a hunk like Wrath! I loved the whole dynamic.

The book is written from several different narratives. It gives a fuller picture of the whole story. It also sets up at least one future roma

Book One of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
Pages 393

As I was reading I found that the basic storyline to be really interesting but the writing at times kind of got to me. The "funny" moments seemed forced. I wasn't a fan of the names but, I can over look that. Wrath at times reminded me of the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, and yes I mean the Disney cartoon. But over all good book, can't wait to read the second book in the series. I'm looking forward to know what happens to some of the ot

I guess one could call this a classic paranormal romance...back from the days of flipper cell phones and calling a cab rather than an Uber.
A fun read if you like this genre, which I do! So much so, in fact, that I put all my reading challenges challenge aside again and jumped into the next book in the series, Lover Eternal. I was not feeling well (side-effects of my second dose of COVID vaccine) and I needed comfort, which for some reason I always get from sexy vampires. If that's wrong, I don'

I keep expecting myself to like this series more than I do. I'm not a huge fan of this series, because it is so dark, I'm not a fan of the Lessers and the religious aspects make me uncomfortable. This reminded me of Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker series. And I LOVE that series. I think this one was a little darker and the brotherhood vampires were more scary and seriously flawed than the Nightwalker demons. I really enjoyed Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors vampire warrior romance series more or ...more

Even though this is the first book in the series, I read this one second. I read Lover Mine first. And I'm glad I didn't read this one first. If I had, I may not as enthused about reading the rest of the series. While it did hold my attention and I got thru it pretty quick, I believe it may be because I already know some of what happens in the future. The characters were well written. I'm sure as I go thru the series I will get to know the rest of the brotherhood as well as I have gotten to know ...more

This book was superb. You have to love the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This first story about Wrath and Beth is stunning. Their relationship from the start where Beth discovers who her father is and that she is part vampire part human to her marriage to Wrath. Emotional, suspenseful and beautifully portayed love scenes. I originally read 100 pages of this book, but then put it aside to concentrate on challenge books. Today I started on Page 1 and read to the end. It was a wonderful way to spend a ...more
