Katy Swartz was not happy about moving from sunny Florida to West Virginia her senior year, but her mother made the decision for her. It had been three years since Katy lost her father but in some ways she lost her mother as well. Katy had spent much of her time delving into her blog and her love of books, but when she meets her neighbors Katy finds herself torn between the Dee a girl who could easily be her best friend and Daemon the twin and if Katy could guess was hiding devil horns somewhere

I liked Katy, for the most part. I say most part because I hate when girls act the way she did with Daemon. Daemon was annoying and I didn't like him, at all, for most of the book. Dee was my favorite character, but she seemed immature for her age. Since for a large part of the book I was bored and/or annoyed with the characters behavior, I don't see myself continuing this series.

This was my second time reading this. I first read it a few years ago and i think I enjoyed it just as much second time around. I liked that it wasn't instalove but that there was chemistry between Katie and Daemon and the author played with the tension well. I also liked the storyline and felt the pace really kept me in the story. It was really nice to revisit this story and see where it all began and i look forward to rereading the whole series in preparation for The darkest star later on this

This has been on my TBR for years. It was a good start to the series, and I’m planning to continue with it. There wasn’t a lot of backstory for Daemon and his sister, and I really hope the next one provides more information.
The narrator pronounces Daemon as “demon.” Had I been reading a printed copy, I would have read it as “DAY-mon.” Not sure which is correct.

As my first JLA book, I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical. Armentrout churns out books faster than I can imagine and the only other author I can think of that does that is Danielle Steel (FYI, not good in my opinion). But the rave reviews by all of the blogosphere coupled with the #JLARC as hosted by D ...more
