Mushiness + political correctness = constant eyerolling.
If there's one thing I hate in historical romance is uber political correctness. This enrages me to no end. I'm reading a historical romance because I want to imagine about a time different to ours. I don't want lectures on feminism or the idea that 'women can do everything a man does'. I find it so patronizing that the author feels the constant need to reassure me that I can battle a man on my own, like physical strength is the only trait ...more

4.5 stars

I couldn't decide if I wanted to give the 3 stars or 4, it took me a while to make my decisions.
Of course I have read books by Maya Banks before mostly contemporary, but also historical. There were a few things that annoyed about Ewan's behavior towards Mairin. I thought that he humiliated her one to many times in front of their clan. Even after I considered the times and his responsibilities I still thought that things could have been handled in another way.

Oh buddy did I just love Ewan McCabe! He was rough and arrogant at first but as he mellowed, boy did he get loveable in a hurry.

When she rescues little Crispen McCabe from Cameron, she basically writes her ticket to freedom...well sort of. Of course, even without knowing her identity, Ewan is reluctant to let her go after her encou ...more

I wanted to tryout a Highlander book because they seem to be popular now and I am glad I did. I also Love Maya Banks so I thought I would start with this one but I just confirmed my suspicions that Historicals are just not for me.

I loved this book! It kept me up way past my bedtime, it was very engaging! I loved the relationship that the two main characters have and it was cute how much she vexed him. I look forward to reading the 2nd book in this series!
