3 stars. The entire first half of this novel was completely pointless. It was filled with overused tropes and cliches that added nothing to the overall story. The second half wasn’t much better but it wasn’t as insufferable.

There was honestly no point to this book. It could’ve stopped at Slammed because as many flaws and issues that book had I think it wrapped up Will and Lake’s story quite nicely. This was just unnecessary for the sake of unnecessary drama with a super contrived break up for g 3 stars. The entire first half of this novel was completely pointless. My main issue with this book was Will. What the hell happened from the first book to now because he felt like a completely different character here. He was so responsible and mature in the first book and for some reason he read like a 16 year old boy in this one. The way he and Lake went about handling and discipline the kids was so freaking stupid and didn’t at all seem like something Will would’ve done in the first book. I mean, they did something that could’ve got them into serious serious trouble and yet Will thought it was funny?? The same Will that was so protective and stern in Slammed? Yeah, I ain’t buying it. It was such a bizarre character change. Also, he went about his relationship with Lake completely wrong and was so overbearing and smothering that it was a total turn off.

Lake wasn’t any better, she was just as immature as Will so that didn’t help. I didn’t like her in the first book and I still didn’t like her now. She had the right to be upset about a situation that (didn’t need to) happened in the first half but she acted like a child about it throwing tantrums and shit and that made it incredibly difficult to sympathize with her.

I really only liked the new character, Kiersten, an 11 year old little girl with more sense than everyone else in the damn book. Bless her.

This is not a terrible book by any means, hence the 3 stars but I think it’s because I know that Hoover is capable of better than this that makes the series such a disappointment. I’m glad I didn’t start with this series first when it comes to her work because I honestly don’t think she would be one of my favorite authors today if I had. ...more

Der Collegealltag und die Erziehung fordern den Beiden viel ab, da bleibt wenig Zeit für traute Zweisamkeit. Deswegen soll das Erste Mal zwischen ihnen etwas ganz Besonderes werden, kein Akt zwischen Tür und Angel, immer mit der Angst im Nacken überrascht zu werden. Eine Zerreißprobe für die junge Liebe, die an Laykens Sturheit zu zerbrechen droht. Doch gerade als auch diese Krise bewältigt zu sein scheint, schlägt das Schicksal erneut grausam zu und Will muss von Neuem um seine Zukunft bangen.

Ich konnte mir den zweiten Teil um Layken und Will gar nicht schnell genug aus der Buchhandlung besorgen. So fasziniert war ich von dieser Liebesgeschichte. Die Beiden haben etwas besonderes an sich, dass den Leser einfach nicht mehr loslässt. Atemlos flog ich über die Zeilen, gnadenlos dem Ende der Geschichte entgegen. Für ganz besonderen Wirbel sorgen die neuen Nachbarn, insbesondere die Tochter des Hauses, die für ihr junges Alter eine doch eher unkonventionelle Art hat an die Welt zu betrachten. Nie wieder wird das Wort „Schmetterling“ mir harmlos erscheinen. Vor allem habe ich gelacht, was sie daraus bei dem Talentwettbewerb in der Schule gemacht hat. Ebenso wie im ersten Buch musste ich auch mehrmals meine Taschentücher bemühen und fand mich selbst laut schluchzend auf der Couch wieder, oder an weniger dramatischen Stellen leise vor mich hin schniefend. Es war alles dabei und als ich das Buch schloss, war ich traurig, dass ich erneut von Freunden Abschied nehmen musste.

Die Bücher „Weil ich Layken liebe“ und „Weil ich Will liebe“ gehören für mich zu den Highlights unter den Liebesromanen dieses Jahr, gerade weil ich kein großer Fan von allzu schmalzigen Liebesgeschichten bin. Die hier waren alles andere als schmalzig, halt einfach mal nur schön. ...more

10 Butterflying Stars.

I have never read a book from an author who can wrench my soul to no end. I have to say that in the beginning of this book I was not sure I was going to like it as much as Slammed. But about 5% into the book I was hooked and did not want to lay it down.

I want to say that Kierstan is my new very best friend. I think she will be yours if you read this book. This book was heart-wrenching it was brilliant and I loved 95% of the book the other 5% I only liked. Will and Lake go ...more
