I absolutely love books in verse!

This was such a heart breaking story, especially if you are like me and have read a lot of books on this topic and I just knew what was going to happen and she is so naiive in her youth and it really is heartbreaking that this is the truth for so many girls.

Great story but a sad one! Easy quick read!

This book was written as several poems that come together to form the entire story. It was so sad. The poems were I think easier to handle than perhaps an entire book of this subject would have been. I think it's really important to know about these things that are happening to others. This gives a window into the world, but is good for people like me who are very sensitive to these topics. I cried a ton. I would not let a middle grade child read this, but probably starting at 14 or 15 yrs. old. ...more

This book portrays the horror young Nepalese girls go through when they are sold as sex slaves to work in the slums of India. This is also a banned book and I think it is an important book teenagers should read. It would help to foster empathy and also appreciation for the life they have.

There wasn't much to enjoy about this book. A young girl is sold into prostitution by her family, and then treated poorly by the madam of the house where she plies her trade. I know it is important to be aware these things regularly happen in all countries and try and find ways to stop it, but it's pretty depressing to read about. I listened to the audio version. ...more
