The book started with an interesting premise 'The cemetery of forgotten books'. Any bibliographer will vouch and yearn for something like this...a sprawling library of books and words that are perhaps forgotten. But when, I delved in the book, I thought wow. Think of it. I don't remember what led me to this book but I'm glad I found it. Re-read. Better second time around. Must have been a low bio-rhythm in March 2011.

I loved the way Zafon told the story. His style reminded me of one of my favorite authors, Daphne du Maurier. The story was dark and unfolded slowly, so it took a little time for me to really feel caught up in it. But once I did, it was hard to put down! Great book, and the first in a series!

I was in it from the first to the last page. Such a lovely read. The writing alone captivated me. I am really able to appreciate literary artist like this. They are the ones that continue to give me the motivation I need to work on my own writing.
