I really enjoyed this book, it was a nice, fun read. The magical element, while not one of my favourites, was still intriguing enough to keep me interested. I liked that the main character didn't actually possess these abilities. Usually it's the other way around, they are really skilled, or one of the only ones who can do it.

One word: Epic!
Epic writing, epic world building, one of my favourite authors: How did I miss this epic, massive fantasy series?
This was a great introduction; I'm so looking forward to entering this world more deeply.
I'm very much looking forward to book two in the series: Academ's Fury .
