4 Mouse stars!
Allow me for the "Mouse"-y emphasis, because I'm biased as hell when a pup comes up in any story.
So as is expected, the story is moving ahead at an amazing pace. The book starts off with Harry and Thomas chasing monkey demons and all of their gooey poop- and it's is when Mouse-the-sweetheart happens (I'm so grateful for this, yay!). I do not like Harry Dresden. I keep reading these books because it's my husband's favorite series, so it's no one else's fault but my own. But this is miserable, Dresden is a sexist and righteous pig/prig and this is a plot that's tailored to describe every woman's body in considerable detail. You cannot describe yourself a chivalrous knight and still go around looking at every woman with that terrible male gaze. While I enjoy this series, I don't seem to be as big of a fan as most people. I know. I'm a downer. I didn't find this book as exciting as the previous ones. I love how there is a puppy addition and that we find out about a previously unknown brother and we learn quite a bit about Harry's mother, but otherwise, it was ok.
