I haven't read a book about Dresden for some time. I had a feeling that the last one wasn't as good as the earlier ones. Although, I decided to come back to this series and it was definitely a good decision. Blood Rites has this unique atmosphere we know form the first two books.

These Dresden books just keep getting better. I mean Jim Butcher is an amazing writer, and he's so good at setting up the right pace of a story. I love the secondary characters. I have my irritation with Harry at times, but mostly I also like him. Plus this book had a puppy!!! That just added something to the whole story. (view spoiler). I do not like Harry Dresden. I keep reading these books because it's my husband's favorite series, so it's no one else's fault but my own. But this is miserable, Dresden is a sexist and righteous pig/prig and this is a plot that's tailored to describe every woman's body in considerable detail.
