I didn't hate this book but I really didn't care for it much. I am not a huge "wizard" fan, and yes that includes Harry Potter ... I just have a hard time really getting into fantasy, when things aren't real and they just rely on their magic to get them out of problems it makes it so you can get them into any situation and they will get out of it.
I don't know if I will bother continuing the series but it was just not really my thing... ...more

This was entertaining and the main character is definitely amusing. I've been told this series gets better, so I have high hopes. The bad guy was kind of disappointing to me... I expected more epicness from them instead of the posturing. Still, definitely amusing. ...more

Harry Dresden is a wizard for hire. He is at the end of his rope, late on his rent with no way to pay in the near future when he gets a call. A woman is looking for her missing husband, this is not a case he would normally take but he is broke and close to desperate.

That was not at all what I expected. My son (a huge Terry Brooks and Robert Jordan fan) gave me the series at least five years ago, and I kept putting off reading it. I may have never read it except that a few people in my book club read it and surprisingly really liked it. It was quirky. I liked it.
