I keep trying the Alex Cross books and I keep ending up disappointed. It isn't that there's not enough pace to the books - they are page turners. But I just find Alex Cross annoying. In this book, his oh-so-perfect children are, as usual, oh-so-perfect, except for the one week where Jannie suddenly has a brain tumour, goes to hospital, has it removed (while everyone around her panics) and then she's home again and it is as if nothing had changed. Roses Are Red isn't one of my favorites in James Patterson's Alex Cross Series, but it left me speechless at the end. The Mastermind's reveal dumbfounded me. I didn't see it coming and now I have to read Violets Are Blue to see if the good Detective Dr. Alex Cross can catch his new nemesis who calls himself the Mastermind. James Patterson, sir, you are interrupting my order of books to read!
