And I had just gotten used to Kinsey. Corpse was a good book, which is why I didn't think much before checking Deadbeat out even though I don't usually read series books in quick succession. Deadbeat has a WTF ending. Kinsey doesn't get beaten up in this one, but she still doesn't really know who the killer is - she confronts someone not thinking that they might be the killer, but someone close to them is. I’ve always like Kinsey. She’s self-assured and isn’t afraid to say she loves being alone. Her aunt raised her to be independent, and I love that about her. She doesn’t need a man and can take care of herself. But she does something in this installment that grated in me. I lost a bit of respect for Kinsey for sleeping with a married man.

While I thought B and C were better, I enjoyed this book. Looking forward to further adventures with Kinsey Millhone.
