4 stars. Not as good as the third book but it was still really, really good.
I thought the third book was character driven but this one was even more so. It's a great character piece on Roland. Everything gets so much more complex and complicated in this book but it was still a very entertaining read. What even. This was my roadblock earlier and it's terrible still. I'll still read further because I think (I hope) there's no more Susan Delgado. The worst part about this crappy story is that Susan didn't even need to exist. Roland didn't need a fridged burned girlfriend to begin his obsession with the tower. He just needed the glass. And in any case, the romance is so badly written that it just feels like Roland transfers his obsession from one thing to another. And that's how Susan is written
