The characters are very real young people, and you will see behavior from them that you don't admire... but then you will also see the value of having friends that you love and who you know will be there for you. I really liked listening to this book . . .the story was compelling, the characters were complex, and I was eager to know how it ended. But I strongly disagreed with the underlying worldview. Though the characters' past actions have a profound effect on each other, ultimately they are portrayed as victims of chance in an impersonal universe. I LOVED this book! I have historically liked Lauren Oliver's writing, but I have been used to her dystopian reads. I will admit that I was very much impressed by this one. I enjoyed the dynamic characters and I actually was quite entertained by the fact that I actually didn't like the title character for the majority of the book.
