2 stars for unlikable characters, but 4 stars for making them real enough to despise or evoke sympathy. Samantha Kingston and her popular girlfriends, Lindsay, Elody and Ally, are not run-of-the-mill mean girls, they are exceptionally cruel and delinquent girls: drinking, smoking, bullying, cutting school, and sleeping around.

I don't remember what I thought this book was about when I picked it up but whatever it was, the book is completely different.
I struggled getting into the book only because of Sam's attitude and the attitude of her friends. They were rude, mean, and conceited. Yet, the best part of the book is Sam's evolution from who she was at the beginning to who she is at the end.

Although this book is classified as YA, I would consider it more for older young adults - there are definitely some mature elements in it.
I was unsure of this book at many points while reading, but the more I thought about it & its message, the more I liked it. This one really gives the reader a lot to ponder, & I found myself reevaluating how I personally live my life: the way I interact with others, how I treat my family, how I spend my time. If I could, I would rate this 4.5 stars.

I don't know what to say. I enjoyed this book very much. But I am a happy ending kind of reader and I was unhappy with the way this one ended.
