This book is #0.5 in the Wallflower series and I read it rather late. It doesn't matter but I missed all the references to the Wallflower series and this book should definitely be read before It Happened One Autumn as it presents Marcus Westcliff quite thoroughly. And we get to meet Rutledge very briefly.

Adam is the best secondary character ever! Hes Aline's gay friend and an excellent source of highlights and good advice.

While McKenna has revenge on his mind, Livia finds she'd like to know Gideon Shaw so much better.
While I am loving the gems of this author I didn't care for the sedate pace of this read, I did enjoy the twists of the storyline itself. Being separated a dozen years has hardened McKenna and victimized Aline as they reignite the passion they thought they'd lost or imagined played great. But based on the closeness of the characters the sending him away and the need for revenge didn't play true. According to the synopsis the story centers around Aline and McKenna and it did but as the secondary thread was the romance of Livia and Gideon they felt elevated beyond he standard secondary characters. Livia's innocence complemented Shaw's jaded attitude toward romance as she rediscovered life and he rediscovered love, their relationship was quite sweet. I liked all four of the main characters here and found several of the secondary characters fun and interesting as they added a bit of flavor to the story. The mechanics (except pacing) were all excellent in this foundation story for a popular series and it kept me invested in getting to the HEA.

This is the first book I've read by this author. It was fantastic. I loved how it was both sister's HEA stories. There were so many times that I cried, cried, cried. I will definitely be reading more of this series. ...more
