I quite enjoyed this book although sometimes it didn't move quickly enough. I think if maybe 20% of the book had been cut, it would have been better.

I identified tremendously with Holly. My stepmother of 25 years died very unexpectedly on February 2nd this year. When I read that date as when Gerry died my stomach did a little drop. I had never lost anyone really close whose death was unexpected. I've lost grandparents who had led very full and good lives and while they were sad, they didn't qui

Only 2 books have ever made me cry before - one was the Notebook and the other I can't recall (but I'm pretty sure it was animal related) - and I only cried at the end after I got to know the characters and their stories; this one had me going from the beginning through to the last chapter. That the author was able to make me care about the characters, their story and their heartache, that quickly speaks volumes about the book and the depth of emotion in it. Cecilia Ahern makes a splash with "PS, I Love You," a surprisingly charming debut about grief, love, family and struggling to move on with life. "PS I Love You" is not your typical chick-lit. But there's no gooey love story with some new Hot Guy Du Jour, nor does it avoid the darker, more depressing e ...more

I bawled through the film when I first saw it in the cinemas. I expected to do the same with the book as well so I kept putting off reading it despite it sitting on my bookshelf for years.

And I wasn't wrong. I cried, I sobbed and avoided reading the really sad bits on public transport.

I'm glad I finally got around it reading it, but I'm also glad that I waited so long. It is different to the book. In neither or a bad or good way, just different. Having the space between seeing the film and read
