Well, I am done with the re-read of this book. Yes, I read it as a teenager, and I loved it as I did the first time. I have an uncle in Sacramento that says that it's good to read a book a couple of times in different parts of our life.
Rebecca", the book that gave Daphne du Maurier immortality, has all the features of the novel of its time. Balancing on the thin, invisible line between plain romance and deep psychological analysis, it is engrossing for me to the point of sacrificing sleep.

Scary in book form or in the classic Laurence Olivier/Joan Fontaine movie version. That housekeeper is a piece of work!

The tale of the second Mrs. deWinter and how her husband maximilian is still haunted by his first wife Rebecca. For some reason I thought this was going to be a ghost story which it isn't. It is an absorbing love story with plenty of twists and turns and a few good villians.
