In the Woods by Tana French is the first book in the Dublin Murder Squad mystery series. Three children go into the woods and only one is found, terrified and unable to recall anything of what has happened. Twenty years later he is a detective in the Dublin Murder Squad and is assigned a case where a young girl is found murdered in the same woods. The book was interesting but I found it drawn out and the narrator tedious and unlikeable. I felt let down that the initial mystery remained unsolved ...more

Well it took me awhile to get this book finish but wow what book. I couldn't believe the psychological twist. A young girl was killed and detectives Rob and Cassie try to find the killer and the reason as to why would someone do this but something from the past becomes an issue that pops up. So much goes on in this book that your wowed and can't believe it. I so enjoyed this book.  ...more

An utterly brilliant story. I have read a lot of murder mystery books, but Tana French has created an absolute jewel with the Dublin murder squad. The story has a very interesting premise and a very convoluted back story to our protagonist, which I think only helps to make the story more interesting. i think it balances itself out in the most extraordinary way. Cant wait to pick up book #2 in the series.

I needed so much more. And there was so much. But not what I needed. Ugh... But interesting story and characters none the less.
Kind of left me unsatisfied at the end though.

I couldn’t get through this book. Yes, I would like to find out what happened to the kids, but not enough to continue. I was bored. To be fair, I don’t think I gave it enough of a chance... but there are more engaging books that I could be reading.
