Well it took me awhile to get this book finish but wow what book. I couldn't believe the psychological twist. A young girl was killed and detectives Rob and Cassie try to find the killer and the reason as to why would someone do this but something from the past becomes an issue that pops up. Two detectives on the Dublin murder squad are assigned a case involving a dead child. The case has links to a missing persons case from many years ago when one of the detectives was a child. He does not reveal his link to the case and the detectives work the new case, building a relationship and tracking down clues. A pretty average mystery that was far too long for what it was. I guessed the culprit of the main mystery pretty early on and the other mystery was never solved.

Something that slightly elevates this book is it's complex characters, particularly the two detectives, and it's realistic sombre ending. Still though, I think the same story could have been told in half the pages. ...more

I needed so much more. And there was so much. But not what I needed. Ugh... But interesting story and characters none the less.
Kind of left me unsatisfied at the end though.

I enjoyed this murder mystery! I read some reviews before I started that talked about how they were disappointed with the ending, and that not everything was resolved, so I had that expectation in my mind. My biggest issue with the story is what a jerk Rob Ryan ended up being!!! The mystery itself was very interesting and I did like the characters - until I didn't like Ryan anymore. I was surprised by how things unfolded and didn't see it coming. I think I will continue on with this series. ...more
