5 STARS!
Wow! That was an intense book that I hard a hard time putting down. I don't know what took me so long to pick up this book, but I am really glad I did. This was like a modern day Sherlock Holmes. At first I was worried that I wouldn't like Lincoln Rhyme and wasn't sure how this would work out, but I loved the interaction between Rhyme and Amelia (she was his legs). In the beginning the forensic information was close to overload, but about 1/3 of the way through, it got less technical and

6/2014 ... Read this one again and still a solid 4 stars. I do like the characters in this and look forward to continuing the series.

1st read in 2008 ... Very detailed description of crime scene investigation. I would have given it 5 stars except that it's a bit too gory & gruesome in some places for me. Patrol Officer Amelia Sachs comes across a body, and takes the initiative to secure the crime scene. Lincoln Rhyme, several years after the on-duty injury that paralyzed him, is waiting to meet the doctor who will finally help him … to kill himself. Their paths intersect in this case because Rhyme is still the best criminalist the New York Police Department has ever had. He uses Sachs to be his legs, eyes, ears, nose, as he coaches her in evidence recovery.

The pace is quick and Deaver doesn’t g

Wow, this was so intense - I loved it! I stayed up way, way, way too late to finish; just couldn't put this one down! The forensics were incredible, the writing taut, the characters human and memorable. Lincoln Rhyme is quite the different protagonist; lovable even through the surly brusqueness. Amelia Sachs was an unlikely, but completely believable "Watson." The mystery was so intense and I never saw the ending coming. I can't believe I've not discovered this series until now and can't wait to ...more

I was drawn into this novel and enjoyed the search for the Bone Collector. The ending was a bit surprising but believable. There are graphic descriptions of the crimes which could turn some people off but it didn't bother me. I'll definitely read more Rhyme/Sachs novels. ...more
