All the things I love wrapped up in a novella. Time travel, lyrical writing, weirdness, confusion, and a heavy emotional undercurrent. Ahh. I loved this read.

The time travel setup is a bit confusing if you start to think about it too much. That rabbit hole just leads to a big headache, so leave it alone and just enjoy the ride. This book is probably a good book, but it isn't for me. I need more world and character building. This just has two operatives of a time war sending increasingly complicated messages to each other (always managing to know exactly when and where the other will be to pick it up - which seems unrealistic).

Time travel is confusing on its own, but here we get just the vague details. The method of creating the messages was really creative and I would have loved to have details on how they managed to ...more

There was some very lovely prose and a lot of wordplay with a unique tone. A lot of references too, not all of which I understood. It's an imaginative and unique world and tone.

However, I struggled to sink into the story as I usually do with books, and I struggled to enjoy it as well. It was too far off my usual styles
