Very lush language, which wasn't great for listening in my car. I keep being distracted by the sound of the words and then realize I wasn't paying attention to what was actually being said. It's not very plot driven so that wasn't too bad. The group agreed that it had a very Romeo-and-Juliet feel, in that the protagonists were fully adolescent in their passion and commitment to death before dis-loving.

There was some very lovely prose and a lot of wordplay with a unique tone. A lot of references too, not all of which I understood. It's an imaginative and unique world and tone.
However, I struggled to sink into the story as I usually do with books, and I struggled to enjoy it as well. It was too far off my usual styles

I wonder if people who love Romeo and Juliet feel about it, how I feel about this story...
this is a very... impressionistic book.
The cover describes the book very well. And not, because... this isn't a simple story. Yet it is...
it's heartbreaking yet lovely... horrible yet lovely. Incomprehensible, yet... yes, lovely.
