So far this series is just so much fun!

This is the second book in the fascinating Chronicles of St. Mary's, an extremely entertaining time travel series. At the beginning of the book, Max, now a seasoned and trained Historian, manages to accidentally bring Jack the Ripper back from Victorian London, then goes back in time to Scotland where she needs to ensure the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots, to preserve history. One of the very best sections of the book involves a Dodo hunt, which is both amazing and hilarious.

I wasn't into this one as much as the first, but I still really enjoyed it, so a 4 stars for this one.

St. Mary's is back at work again. The end of the first book saw a lot of shake up in the institution but the show must go on.
Max is no longer a rookie historian. She's now leading expeditions which brings a whole another dimension to the game as things that seem impossible have a tendency to demonstrate they ARE possible and it's not often a good thing.

An wild, rollicking ride.
I love this series. The writing is sharp and funny; the pace never flags; the dialogue is witty and snappy. It reminds me of some of the best comedies of the 30's and 40's. I wish they would make this a series. ...more
