I found myself forgetting that Evelyn Hugo is not a real person, she felt so real!

What an incredible book. Full of drama, emotion, personal human struggles, lies and love. Worth every minute, a great audiobook.

My only gripe is that the french accent of Max doesn't sound very convincing.

One of the best books I’ve read this year. Top notch characters. I had to wait a few months to finish it because of the waiting list at the library.

A fabulous story that has stuck with me weeks after I finished it. This is going to make an amazing movie if done right. The 79-year old movie star Evelyn Hugo finally wants to tell her story. And she picks an almost unknown magazine writer to do it. Why does it matter so much that Monique Grant, the biracial child of a man who did some work on movie sets many years ago before his death, be the one to hear Evelyn's story? I have no idea why I resisted reading this book! What a rollercoaster read!! It was not at all what I expected and salacious in all the best ways!! Imagine having a stage icon give you her life story unvarnished and with all the sordid details! Here is a story of live and friendship and a lifetime of pretending. While I was not surprised by any of the turns the book took they still delighted me to no end. I am off to explore reads by this author. Let us hope they are all as engaging as this one ...more
