I can't wait to see what happens next. The suspense in this book is great. I can't believe the twist and turns that goes on in this book and who you can trust and not trust. Also the fact of the crazy murderous hubby is definitely a kicker too. Wow. ...more

So imagine her shock when a drunk driver crashes into their garage and a mutilated corpse is found hanging inside. Not only that, but her husband is revealed to be a serial killer.

Flash forward four years, Gina, now going by the name Gwen, is currently on her fourth new identity after her husband's arrest, and is determined to live a somewhat normal life with her kids. Thanks to a hacker helping her out, Gwen has been able to keep her identity a secret and escape the internet trolls who believe she had a part in the murders and would quite like her to face the same punishment Mel's victims did.

Settling into a new house on the remote Stillhouse Lake, Gwen finally believes she could have a chance at a new life. That is until the body of a girl is found dumped in the lake, and it appears she has been killed similarly to how Melvin used to kill his victims. With Gwen being set up as the murderer, can she prove she's innocent whilst also hiding her true identity from the town?

I really enjoyed this book. The opening chapter was crazy and tense, and I loved the set-up of Gina's perfect life, only for it to be obliterated over the course of that chapter. The story was intriguing and I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of it.

The twists and turns were interesting, but not totally mind blowing. I've read a lot of thrillers in my time, so I guessed that (view spoiler). That stuck out to me from the beginning and yep, your girl was right.

Not my usual kind of book although I have read Rachel Caine before. Thought I'd give this a try.
Lots of suspense, some social commentary that was spot on and a lot of twist that keep you guessing. ...more
