What Members Thought

Words can't express what I'm feeling right now. Even if I tried it would be so long and rambling. The audiobook is amazing and so is her message of love, kindness, and hope. I cried a bunch while listening to this.

This was a book I didn't care if I read. I just randomly added myself to the waitlist at the library one day. I wasn't jumping at the bit for it, and it didn't even get added to my TBR until it came in. I downloaded it, hit play, and was hooked. I only loosely follow politics, but that's not what this book was about. I loved Michelle's voice. Not just listening to it, but her voice throughout the book. I always found the Obama's to be classy people and I am waiting and hoping for the day that cl

I was expecting this one to be a bore as I generally don't like non-fiction much. But this book made me realise I need to give non-fiction the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would and I was absolutely invested in their story, even if I had some reservations about what we see in the world and what's written in this book.

Inspiring at times while ineffective at others. Michelle Obama's flight from a middle class beginning is inspiring in its own right while being less impressive by comparison. Unsurprisingly, it becomes more interesting once Barack comes into the picture. The shadow of Barack looms large over the story of Michelle and it is hard not to compare the both of them even though I tried not to.

Finally finished! Took me a year - I own the book so it kept getting put aside for books from the library with due dates. With a 4.51 rating, there is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said about this book. It was a very good book and interesting to get to know this particular first lady. Her heart is in the right place and she followed through on a number of initiatives to advance women worldwide through education during her tenure in the White House. She was a bit snarky from time to

Utterly stunning, so hard to believe a country who had such an incredible president and first lady, chose the ones they have now to replace them! How uplifting to have 'normal' people in places of importance, who understand and empathise with their people, not just the tax avoiders! If only we could have someone like that in the UK.

This book touched me in the most basic of human ways. Showed me that I hadn't reached my potential, and that I am capable of even more becoming. She's a blessing.
