This was an excellent read -- Michelle's story is interesting, honest and clarifying, and she's also an excellent writer. It was fascinating to see how she became who she is and to get a glimpse of what she was thinking and feeling while serving in the very public yet maddeningly silent role that is that of "first lady" in the U.S.

This memoir is stirring, insightful, and illuminating. The writing changed perceptions about the woman who is married to the 44th president.
She tells her life story divided into three sections. The first is her life experiences during her childhood through college. The second is her life experiences from the time she graduated college, met Barak, married him, and began the years of politics. The third section follows her life experiences as the first lady.

I am never sure on how to rate autobiographies and memoirs. This is about as well written as I'd expect, with interesting insight into Michelle Obama's life as Michelle Robinson, one of a close-knit family with dreams and aspirations. I liked how candid she was about motherhood versus career versus relationship, and how she had to balance raising her girls with Barack's ambitions, while still trying to figure out how she could have an impact in the Obamas' historic tenure as the first black fami

I listened to the book in Mrs. Obama's voice. I think that made it even more meaningful to me. I have great admiration for the Obamas after this. Just a terrific book and, if you can listen to it, do so. Even better.
