I'm not sure if I would have read this book if it wasn't for a challenge - I'm not too fond of elves or goblins. The main character, the goblin emperor, Maia is both, half goblin-half elf. The book deals with his unexpected ascent to power, and his first few months at the helm of the elvish empire of his father, and him not doing a totally crap job of it.
