I definitely liked this one a lot better than the first book! The plot was much more exciting, I really enjoyed the political maneuvering. And I cared more about the characters in this one than I did in the first. Megan Whalen Turner has a very unique voice and this story was told in a way that just felt different than other books. I hadn't been sold on this series prior to this one but I think I'm interested in continuing on with book 3.

I am really liking this series. I have been listening to them and the narrator is really good, too. This book starts where "The Thief" ends and has the same engaging characters. It's full of palace intrigue and political machinations with twists and turns all over the place. A war between Eddis and Attolia begins and Gen has some tasks to do to help turn the tide. Fun!
